Hey, I'm totally grateful to Fernando, he's saved me many, many hours of
configuration and kernel recompiling, Planet CCRMA works great with Redhat
8.0, and using synaptic and the apt-get port its super easily!

However, Mandrake users shouldn't need them,
since we
(volunteers) spend countless hours providing current rpms that work
flawlessly (almost) because they are specifically designed for the
current version of Mandrake, and include goodies like extra
documentation, menu entries, MIME types, and easy rebuilding.

This is the part of your statement I don't understand. How is this any
different from the countless hours Fernando spends making RPMs for our exact
Redhat distributions?
It seems identically parallel to my mind...unless it's the extra goodies
part. I haven't heard of anyone on the Planet who got an PRM and it dodn't
work for him. Might be some, but I cannot remember one.
Cheers,
Mark
