Hi,
many clients [including meterbridge] have the option of passing the jack
name to it via commandline:
meterbridge -t dpm x x x x -n meterbridge4
as an example (this will always show up as "meterbridge4" and thus can be
easily connected automatically.
ah and btw: ardour itself also has a meterbridge :)
