So, this is very interesting. I know how to assemble a desktop
computer from newegg parts, but I would not have thought that a
notebook computer would be possible. Do you have a link to some
websites that would give instructions or clues?

That's probably correct Porl - assemblers of generic computers from
off-the-shelf parts are typically called "white box" vendors. Using the
search phrase putting together a white box laptop brings up this:
