We haven't got a single effect bypass yet and I think it would
involve stopping the engine for a short moment.
Not stopping, but a brief fade-out-in to cover the pop
caused by latency change in adding/removing an effect.
(Unless I'm behind the times, only Ardour's mixer
can make these transitions seamlessly.)
