I am looking for some instant sound board software
that I can install on a
Linux machine.
Basically, I need a GUI interface with buttons (or rows of buttons) where I
can play out MP3s in rapid succession out the soundcard.
you could build this very quickly in pure data, and optionally get
more control later if you wanted to - pitch-shifting, chaining, etc.
it has all sorts of gui widgets, sound players and so on. very
flexible, and it's free and free
