dmesg shows proper connects/disconnects of the
hardware but no alsa
module is loaded nor is it reflected in /proc/asound.
The module should have been loaded. What are the messages in the
system log?
I also tried manually loading the module. No errors
were reported during
loading of the module yet no new devices showed up.
There should have been some error message if the driver cannot load.
Did you unload all old sound modules before trying to load the new one?
