I don't know about dmesg, but it seems the relevant bit in the error
message you're seeing is "unknown parameter", which would refer to
your "snd_index" parameter.
From looking at virmidi.c in the kernel source, I think
you'd want
# /sbin/modprobe snd-virmidi index=2
instead (ie. just "index", rather than "snd_index" )
