Of course on Arch you don't need it -- rolling release :-)
You update hourly, daily, weekly or monthly, but you never
install a 'new release' because there are no 'releases'.

You need at least /boot (100M, I always use a
conservative
ext2 for that), and /.
Just a small correction: it's a good idea to have a /boot partition of
at least 500MB on Fedora because preupgrade
(http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_use_PreUpgrade) needs it. (I've
never tried preupgrade myself, but Dave might want to.)
