What distriibution do you use, if its RH7 or 8 you can install
Planet CCRMA which takes a lot of the pain out of it.
Errh ... Mdk 8.2. And I have picked some random RPMs from Planet CCRMA: I can't help
myself trying ;) . Some work and some don't, and it can be because of some gnome2 or
libpng libs I don't have.
Either way jack is worth installing.
I'm
nearly sure I will do it one day.
