You can use Guenter Geiger's jacklaunch app, that is kind of like a
LD_PRELOAD hack for OSS apps to use Alsa interface, but this one
connects just about any app to the Jack. That might be a temporary
solution while the apps in question don't get ported to Jack.

jackd running constantly?? It tends to screw up any
non-jack audio
apps
so, for instance, xmms won't run. I guess you
could use only jack
enabled apps though.
