Thank you. That is the clearest and simplest explanation I've ever seen for what
exactly those numbers mean.
My settings, by the way, with RT kernel and USB audio interface, have been 128 * 3 / 44100
= 8.7mS , for 4 years now, and I can't be more pleased.

settings: RT=true; Priority: 89; Frames: 1024; SR: 44kHz,
Periods/Buffer: 3; and my latency is 69.7mS
Isn't it too high ?
