There's a possibility that you DAT player can do the sample rate
conversion on its output.
If the DAT doesn't have this capability, then you need to record the
audio from the DAT at the DAT sample rate and then sample rate
convert the data to CD Audio specs.
Most Linux audio software on Linux (including Ardour) uses
libsamplerate for high quality sample rate conversion.
