I compiled support for my US-122 right into the
kernel. Gentoo
seems to have installed alsa-{lib,utils,tools} as dependancies
for other things. It didn't install alsa-driver, but I would
guess that the kernel driver is enough. Is that true?
But I don't get a device for the unit, and the USB light on the unit
does not light up, although the power light does.
You need alsa-firmware as the us-122 needs a firmware loaded. Your
hotplug/udev should then keep track of the loading (doesn't work for
me). Or you have to execute usx2yloader to load it. The lid on the
device will light up if the firmware is loaded and the device will
show up in "aplay -l" or in qjackctl's configuration...
