not to mention that a two-track tape recorder and a couple of mics was
enough for rudy van gelder to record, among hundreds of other things (or
was it thousands?), sonny rollins' "saxophone colossus", thelonious
monk's
"brilliant corners" and all the sessions of the davis-garland-coltrane-
jones-chambers quintet...
but things changed a lot since the late fifties. music is really different
now. another important difference is that those guys back then knew how to
play...
