On Saturday 21 January 2006 19:03, Michael T D Nelson was like:
I guess I could brush up my OpenGL and C and have a go
at writing a
utility myself that converts MIDI into video notation...
Imagine a more serious version of that Nintendo GameCube Donkey Konga
bongo game... with proper notation, multiple instruments... Maybe you
could even plug in a MIDI instrument & it could grade your
performance... It could be an awesome music tuition tool!
This isn't such a daft idea.
I have had similar. As my programming skills are at Python newbie level, I've
been considering doing something with crystalspace. Unfortunately IIRC
crystalspace only supports OSS, which is dull. :(
The problem is that most games and video editing software is looking for
cross-platform operability and Jack support is a Linux ghetto thing. As we
can't exactly club them into submission, this could be a long haul. However,
I don't see how else to approach it.
