By far the biggest pig is my Rhodes sound. That

What host? Which part of that chain is the worst?
Some in jack-rack, some in ardour. I've tried them in either, and it doesn't seem
to make a differenc either way.
I also usually have one or two guitar tracks with CAPS Amp IV -> CAPS
Cabinet II also.
As well as 3-4 fluidsynth instances, and Hydrogen, and Ardour, and
Rosegarden, and whysynth (jack-dssi-host), and one or two AMS instances.
And I haven't even started playing with PD or Csound yet.
That's a lot stuff. All at once? Is this live or studio?
Studio. If I find a way to freeze stuff in ardour, I will, but editing would be kind of
awkward.
I've already put aside $300 to buy a 2.4Ghz socket 775 Core Duo to replace the 1.66Ghz
one, alas.
