I usually make a snapshot each time I add a new track or even a new
segment to a track. This way if I lose something from a crash or
royally f*** something up, I can rollback to a previous snapshot.

I've lost
audio data inside a snapshot when I had a lock up or crash,
but I make lots of incremental snapshots, so I can always backtrack if I
need to.
this reminds me - I don't quite understand the snapshot thing in ardour -
what's the deal?
