I agree with your review. The library is such a great effort for the
Open Source community but yeah, especially the sustain of some of the
instruments (or lack thereof) has been a problem for me as well...

This was also a toolchain test:
Laborejo -> jack-smf-player -> Lisao+linuxsampler -> jack_capture.
No audio mixing (EQ, compressor etc.) involved but ir lv2 on the linuxsampler sum.
Those instruments don't sound bad at all, although it seems this
library has some limitations with chromatic notes and velocity layers.
