So I guess you have one with PC EXpresscard so PCMCIA is not
a solution,
or? One thing particular for laptop use: Depending on the model you might
encounter the laptop humming noise and buzz. Some models are better but the
only way to get rid of it for once and all is to decouple the
converters from the computer via optical transcievers, for instance ADAT
compatible connection for multichannel.
Or by lifting the ground on the XLR connections between the device and the
mixer/pa.
I am also thinking about experimenting with lifting the ground on the
firewire. What do the experts say about that?
I have been thinking about that too, but one of the showstoppers is the
fact that firewire uses common-mode signaling for low-speed communication.
I have to look into it further though.
