This was covered in a previous thread that ended with no resolution - we
tried everything. No luck.
I think the next step is to try it in another laptop with a different
chipset if possible - it could be an issue at the kernel PCMCIA layer.
We solved this at LAC. I am 99% sure the fix was to enable
CONFIG_ISAPNP in the kernel config.
I think it's a bug in ALSA that the lack of this option causes it to
fail silently.
