Hi all,
I'd like to take a straw poll on how many Linux Audio users make use of
external MIDI devices. As a straight hands-up would be unlikely to yield
useful results, perhaps people could suggest what percentage of
external-MIDI-users exist within the LAU group. (As of Jan 06, say)
Additional comments re: problems encountered whilst configuring MIDI are
welcomed, but please start a new thread if you want to make bugreports.
Thankyou, It would be useful for me to be able to formulate some kind of
definitive answer on this subject.
Thanks for all your answers so far!!!
OK, so none of us can really guess at percentages, but it seems clear that a
significant number of reasonably expert audio users use an external MIDI
interface of some kind.
It also seems that general configuration problems fall into a couple of
specific areas and do not trouble most users, either because it's easy to
fix, they don't need the functionality or it Just Works.
I am also interested to hear from people who don't use MIDI at all or have a
specific reason not to configure it. (other than simply hating the medium. ;)
Good. The responses so far have been very useful. Thanks for keeping it so
focussed. :)
