For myself, I think some of it comes down to the *demands* placed on me
and the interesting aspects of the work.
1. No demands, interesting work, - money = fine.
2. No demands, interesting work, + money = fine.

I have two meters running all the time. One is the Fun-O-Meter and the
other is the Cash-O-Meter. One had better be 'way higher than the other
for me to even consider the job.
Ideally both would be pegged to the right.
