If you are a programmer, make appealing software.
If you are a musician, make appealing music.
There is no other way to change anything.
If you are a UI/UX designer, design appealing UIs.
One advantage about FOSS for that: if the developer(s) of a particular
product don't agree with you about your marvellous, world-changing UI,
you can fork the code and do it yourself.
