This is indeed strange, and may be the cause of your slow loading of
Audacity etc. I'm on Debian and have zero plugins in /usr/lib64 . I
suggest moving all the duplicate plugins to a temporary space and try
loading Audacity and maybe initiating a manual scan for Ardour and any
other programs that host plugins.
Audacity here loads in a couple of seconds.
which is weird because apart from maybe Yoshimi I either install
plugins from repositories or AUR and if I download any binary ones put
them in ~/.lv2
I do the same. System-installed plugins end up in /usr/lib/ and
downloaded ones go manually into ~/.lv2 (or ~/.vst3 , ~/.vst etc.).
Currently have 168 plugins in /usr/lib/ , mainly GX plugins, and 77 in
~/.lv2/.
