personally, if you're going to use this for recording/making music,
i'd recommend ripping out pulseaudio entirely and installing jack
instead.
those applications will become redundant then.
alsamixer and envy24control will remain entirely relevant.
Thanks;
to the original poster: you have multiple audio
devices. if you're
using aplay to test things with, you need to be sure that you specify
which device you want it to use.
But look at all of these deviced I can choose from
in Alsa mixer:
HDA NVidia (Alsa mixer)
FG0560 Live! Cam Optia AF (Alsa mixer)
Capture: VF0560 Live! Cam Optia AF Analog Stereo (PulseAudio Mixer)
M Audio Audiophile 24.96 (Alsa mixer)
Playback: ICE1712 [Envy24] PCI Multi-Channel I/O Controller Analog Stereo (PulseAudio
Mixer)
Playback: Internal Audio Analog Stereo (PulseAudio Mixer)
Capture: Monitor of ICE1712 [Envy24] PCI Multi-Channel I/O ControllerAnalog Stereo
(PulseAudio Mixer)
Capture: ICE1712 [Envy24] PCI Multi-Channel I/O Controller Analog Stereo (PulseAudio
Mixer)
Capture: Monitor of internal Audio Analog Stereo (PulseAudio Mixer)
I am pretty sure that the last six refer to my M-Audio Audiophile 2496
card, but which do I want to choose? I take it I might choose
between several of the last six depending on what task I
am trying to accomplish?
