You can search them locally. [...]
Thanks Sam, that seems like a possible solution for now although I
haven't tried it yet.
Local search has the advantages of offline availability, not relying on
potentially dubious search engine indexing, and the benefits of LOCKSS (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LOCKSS ).
Alternatively,
you can use a third-party search engine (Google,
DuckDuckGo, Startpage, Bing, whatever). Search engines vary in their
syntax, but try e.g. searching for
foo
inurl:lists.linuxaudio.org/archives/linux-audio-user/
where "foo" is the term of interest.
Sadly, searching for
kernel
inurl:lists.linuxaudio.org/archives/linux-audio-user/
on
startpage.com or
google.com/ncr
did not produce any results.
Hm. Not sure why those search engines haven't indexed the list archive.
I can't see a robots.txt blocking them. Maybe the listmaster knows?
Anyway, as a workaround in the meantime, there's a web-searchable (in
principle, at least!) copy of the list archive available here:
https://www.mail-archive.com/linux-audio-dev@lists.linuxaudio.org/
Happy searching!
