Though I guess I understand what you mean,
I'd like to note that
CSound, SuperCollider and Pd are the by far the most widely used [1]
synths on Linux, so one could argue that they are the real
"mainstream" Linux synths. ;)
I'm actually quite close to give up on all these GUI synths (and their
unsteady development) and go back to csound (or better yet, figure out
super-collider), because of the stability in development and width in
user community they can offer.
