I've heard of problems with VIA chipsets, but this was mostly applicable to
older chips like the K133/266 and maybe the K33 to some extent. And this was
still in Win world, so I don#t know how it is under linux. I'm only in on the
'nix bandwagon since a little time.
I've used VIA chipsets on many AMD boards, no problems with any of them
besides Linux' adamant refusal to believe the BIOS when I set it to
disable any onboard sound hardware ... Most recent board is an Asus
K8V-MX with VIA chips. Only reason I'm replacing it now is that the
on-board SATA won't recognize a new (working and tested) SATA2 drive I
bought.
