Have you looked at Behringer amps? I have a

Ultra Twin with headphone out, effects send/receive,
tape in/tape out, line in/line out, and even a switch
to disconnect the speakers.
Also, take a look at the Behringer V-Amp Pro. In
addition to a headphone jack, it has line, digital,
and balanced outputs to feed into an amp, computer, or
directly into a mixer.
What it is a copy of? ;-)
Seriously, I'm not knocking Behringer, but a friend who's very
knowledgeable about gear told me all their stuff is basically knockoffs,
and the end result is sometimes great, sometimes iffy,
Anyway I was looking for something with 1 12" - I think a 2x12 is a
little big for this place.

Depending on your taste and or purist view of guitar amps....Old Roland
JC's were all solid state but a mellow sound. Not a lot of dynamics
though....and they are 2x12, which seems to be a conflict for your
physical size reqs. The twin rev is all tube (12ax7 and 6L6's) and also
2x12 and they are also VERY loud! The older twins are also becoming
quite pricey and considered "rare". Great sound but they dont
"breathe"
until about half volume which can break windows in a small apt.
If you can find an old Music Man RD 50 1x12, they are a sweet sounding
amp and very compact. I have an old RP 112 also and it is a EL34 back
end but solid state pre amp. The earlier '70's models had a single 12ax7
tube in the pre amp but they were ultimately a solid state front. Still
sound sweet though and have good head room for moderate playing volumes.
Old Peavey Bandits (tube version) were also a 1x12 and had a nice sound.
Recently though, I picked up a Peavey Delta Blues with a single 15"
speaker. For some reason they dont command a lot of money but have a
nice "not unlike Fender" tone. I got mine for $300.00 and love the
thing! They are on Ebay and Craigslist for this kind of money
frequently. They have EL84's in back and 12ax7's for preamp. And there
is the Fender Hotrod...all tube also....and you can find them for $350 -
$450 on EB & CL.
Much like anything else in music, personal taste is very subjective. My
style and musical taste ranges from Tele and Strat inherent styles
(Country Rock, some jazz, pop & Rock) and I would use any of the above
mentioned amps for what I do.
Hope this helps?
