There's no good notation-centric MIDI editor for
composition. The notation editor in Rosegarden might one
day start to become usable, but right now it's one of the
most frustratingly poor programs I've used.
did you try the other candidates like mscore, Noteedit or even
lilypond?
If you need high quality scores for professional printing,
then lilypond is most probably the thing you want to give a
chance.
