Have a look in alsamixer on the CLI. You do need
the control "Music"
to be up. This control used to be called "Synth" which made more
sense. I've just checked it on Etch with my 225C, and it plays ok,
but a bit quiet. I just connected the keyboard (72) to 0 Emu10k1
Port0.
Thanks for the tip, but it appears to make no difference. The control
is still called "Synth" on this card, it's relatively old (not exactly
sure how much). I must say the alsamixer is acting strangely with
this card - some controls can't be changed, some (including synth)
won't be muted. The synth does let itself be adjusted. The total volume
doesn't respond to "pcm" or "main", I need to use "Wave
Surround" instead.
