What do you mean by "music"?
The Figure 2 graph in the article shows how much the various income
sources
contribute.
I don't think this really shows what the article is trying to make out. I
guess it depends on how they define musicians.. but it's not a surprise to
me that most musicians aren't top 40 recording artists, and therefore make
their money from teaching and salaries as part of an orchestra / session
work.
