note that this card uses a standard firewire cable, which is much more
sturdy than the original cable.
i've used this card with my 1st-gen multiface on a couple of different
laptops, running a bunch of different linux distros, with no troubles.
It is also possible to use a PCMCIA to express card adapter and use the
old PCMCIA card in the new slot (cheaper). I have done that and it works
- it is very ugly and dangerous as the adapter is big and hangs from the
side of the laptop. I don't have the adapter here to post details, maybe
tomorrow from work...
