A professional guitarist would use effects pedals
or an effects
rack... effects are rarely ever added in post.
There are professional guitarists that record everything clean and
everything gets processed afterwards. Ruud Jolie of Within Temptation is
a good example, he recorded all guitar parts for his most recent album
clean at home and everything got processed somewhere else.
