I want to take a minute and point out that what we saw here is just one
more example of the benefits of "open source" thinking. Thanks to both
Roberto and Jostein, this was enjoyable and educative. Mixing is one of
those things which everyone seems to approach slightly differently, and
it was great to see someone else at work.
Cheers,
S.M.

Now, regarding the mix: it's awesome!
Everything sounds way more clear
and defined. I'll have to review what you've done to see if I can learn
something. Regarding what you said about echoes and reverbs, I'm a bit
puzzled: the original guitar sound only has a slight reverb, and the echo
was added with Ardour. Did I something wrong, that it was not possible to
remove it?
Thanks! This was a good experience for me too, in fact, the biggest "fix it in
the mix" experience so far and I won't do that again :-) That said, the mix
still leaves room for improvements - both mixwise and editwise.
I may have exported (did it in order to import freshly into Mixbus) the waves
with the (or some) plugins active, but I don't know how that is possible, the
very first thing I did when opening the Ardour project was to deactivate and
remove any plugins and save the project. But of course, I may have done
something weird or something weired was going on - I did not export before a
new session the day after.
This is being quite a good experience, so I
expect to release all my
next music like this (did I hear a shudder from the masses?). If you liked
to clean up this mess, be prepared for more in the future :-)
I love to mix and solve problems, but I'm not a fan of the "fix it in the
mix"
approach, it has to be as right as possible from the very beginning, so no
more sketches please! :-) It's not many people asking me mixing their projects
for free so I'll be glad to help whenever time and motivation allows it.
