Hello lists,
I'll release a list with download links on my blog nilsgey.de in the
near
future. If the linux audio community has enough
webspace we could even
mirror most of them. Part of my mails is always the permission to
redistribute and mirror download. You don't believe how many say "do
what
you want with these samples, but you are only
allowed to download them
exactly here. If tommorow this website will be gone there is no legal
way
to get the samples anymore"
How large is the sample set?
I am interested in providing a library portal for high quality open
source
samples specifically catering to Linux applications.
I know there are several sites that provide samples but as far as I know
there is nothing that is targeted directly at Linux Audio Applications.
If there is I see no reason why there cannot be another one too...
I am still collecting, but in the end I would say a lower three digit
gigabyte number is realistic.
But it could be a long process until then.
My free collection now is at 8 or 9 GB or so. But there are zero drum loop
waves, the majority of free and public domain stuff, and I download very
few drumkits, which is the second biggest group.
The cheapest and best quality virtual servers I have found are based in
Germany and cost E8/month for 20GB. I am willing to manage one of those to
host the archive.
If you are interested in that option let me know and I will set it up.
