Hey Nik,
I would hold out for the 4000 series that just got announced. Should be
drastic improvement over the 3000.
Also the Ryzen 7 3700U is nothing near the performance of 3700x.
Some Asus laptops already offer the ryzen 7 4800H or the Ryzen 9 4900H,
but I read that someone had trouble with Ubuntu on them, probably drivers
that aren't ready.

Interesting topic, especially as there are some good
laptop offers out
right now that have the Ryzen 7 3700.
I've read that there were some drawbacks when it came to games, but I'm
not sure if that's still the case ?
Anyway I'd be very interested in reading some opinions about it ...
Best,

Hi everyone,
I am thinking of upgrading my audio PC/Laptop, and heard a lot of good
things about AMD's Ryzen series, specifically Ryzen 5 3600. But when
regarded pro audio work some people in the usual forums tend not
recommend
AMD, because of latency issues.
Are there any Linux users successfully using Ryzen CPUs for low latency
work?
If so what is your recommended setup?
FYI I'm using Manjaro XFCE on my laptop and Manjaro KDE on my desktop.
Audio interfaces are Motu 1248 and RME HDSP9652.
Would be great to hear your experience.
Best regards
Moshe
Not having any problems here with a Ryzen 5 (must be nearly 3 years old
now)
This is running Jack audio, Alsa MIDI. This is for with Rosegarden and
Yoshimi
at 48k 4mS latency (64 frames x3) frequently with all MIDI tracks at once
and
with some of my heavy duty instrument patches. Sometimes I drop down to
32
frames, just because I can :)
OS is devuan beowulf, WM openbox, filer rox_filer.
At 2mS my biggest project (which I use as a test) will occasionally
produce a
single Xrun.

P.S.
Sounds like this :)
