This shouldn't be necessary... perhaps something is already using port
8888? Find out by running
netstat -ntulp | grep 8888
Correct output something like when linuxsampler is running:
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:8888 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
1366/linuxsampler
