   Is it possible
to use jackd without specifying a samplerate, or is
 that the domain of pulseaudio? 
 Jackd does not resample. 
So in order to use jack, I must start it at a specific sample rate and
send audio to it in that sample rate.  Sending audio to the jack
server in any other samplerate will result in no output.
