A TRS connector (tip, ring, sleeve) also called an audio jack, phone
plug, jack plug, stereo plug, mini-jack, or mini-stereo, and more
recently MP3 jack is a common audio connector. It is cylindrical in
shape......
Actually, you can use a TRS for a balanced line. E.g. the POD 2.0 shipped
with a balanced out for both the L and R. These used a 1/4" TRS.
