I had the same problem. If you check the limiter should be there.
$ ls /usr/lib/ladspa/
You need
$ export LADSPA_PATH=/usr/lib/ladspa
Better yet, put it in /etc/profile.env
This surprised me since plugins work with other apps. I wonder if
they just use a default? But that should get things going.

things depend on it. I tried setting PKG_CONFIG_PATH to /usr/local/lib but
