It does have the oddity that it can only be opened with 12 in and 10 out
channels, but that is how the chipset works, and it would indeed require
'hacks' in the userspace side of ALSA to work around this for
PulseAudio.

This musing about "broken" alsa-drivers
that need to be "fixed" in the
thread at PA increases the bad feeling about PA's relation and awarenes
to pro-audio.
Or Lennart is just right and the driver in ALSA is not what it should be
for this card.
