Isn't that exctly the way that the noise reduction "effect" in Audacity
works (and other packages that do a similar job) ?
See, my idea is SO GOOD, that a bunch of people have thought of
it already! I picked up gnome wave cleaner, and it's looking like
it might be do just what I want. It has several different
algorithms for noise reduction, so I've got lots of playing to
do.
