A while back, jackd audio users were recommended
to place a
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19 in their /etc/profile or environment setup.
This was necessary because early NPTL implementations were completely
broken. I can't remember the last time I needed this, it must be at
least two or three years. It shouldn't be necessary with any modern
system.
