I have a latency of 5.8 ms with ardour and it's really enough to play
realtime. The processor load was nearly %40 with an old fashioned AMD2500+.
No XRuns :)

This depends on your hardware. With my RME hammerfall I have 6 ms (input
plus output) or if there is no other rt processing, 2ms.
