Scientific pitch is based on a 1 second period: C = 1Hz.
(usually expressed as C = 256Hz but that's just a different octave)

seriously think that the pitch of mains frequency does contribute to stress
Isn't it time we made sound systems that didn't generate power-frequency
hum in the first place? ;-)
