Does it make sense for you ?
It means that your problem is with ALSA and not QJackCtrl.
I suggest that you file a bug in Debian (against ALSA).
Looks like something got un-tweaked in your upgrade.

That also points to an ALSA/driver issue.
Is this a new device? This is puzzling... because M-Audios
are all USB Class Compliant MIDI these days.
