Is that even possible? Even with USB 2.0, which might have shaky linux

Easily possible in 2.0. FTR, Linux's 'shakiness' in EHCI, as far as
I'm aware, is only in the context of having a low-efficiency scheduler
for hub transaction translation (ie, using 1.0 or 1.1 through a hub
with an EHCI controller).
