You will find an example program called 'sndfile-info' which prints out
information about a sndfile.
I should also mention that any program which uses libsndfile for file I/O
(Sweep, Audacity and others) will be able to read and write WAV files using
Microsoft ADPCM encoding (as well as A-law, u-law, GSM6.10 and IMA ADPCM).
