I'm pretty happy with Audio Technica
ATH-D40fs.
The
important thing to me is durability. I don't
mix
with
headphones. I do use them to reference mixes. I
really
use them in the studio rooms when recording
bands.
Headphones get stepped and sat on, thrown on the
floor, cords are pulled, etc. They are abused
alot.
I've had five pairs of these for about three
years.
None are blown, all are physically OK. That's
real
good for headphones.
Hmm, I used an ATH-M40fs until one 'ear' broke off
after it
fell from a table...
I'd guess they were broken before they fell. At
$100.00 plus a pair, you should return them. At a
minimum, the retailer should give you a new pair.
There's no way these things are going to break from
something like that. If they could, all of mine would
have been broken a long, long, time ago.
